Planned retreat approaches to support resilience to climate change in Canada

Planned retreat is evolving as an adaptation approach in Canada and may prove to be a sustainable and preferred approach under continued climate change. This report provides the reader with a comprehensive analysis of the use of planned retreat as an adaptation mechanism for climate change. Both domestic and international approaches to planned retreat are examined. Five case studies from various parts of Canada are presented including discussion of the programs and processes that were used in each of the case studies to achieve desired results.
